Pop Warner Age/Weight Schematic Regulations

This schematic was devised by leading Orthopedic doctors to make football as SAFE as possible.  It puts children of like size and weight together and takes away the large differences that may occur in school ball.  The “modified” programs may also retard a players progress, as they do not have a kicking game and have restricted defenses.

The Bears Basics:

At Eastwood we believe strongly that Football is part of the total educational effort.  The coaching staff believes that the game of Football offers many opportunities to learn lessons of life.  We feel the most important lessons we teach here at Eastwood are:

Pride: Pride in ones self, family, neighborhood.

Self Confidence: Believing they can do anything they put their minds to.  The phrase “I can’t” will hopefully never be uttered by any of these players.

Physical Toughness: They will hit and be hit.  They will endure some bumps and bruises to match their sore muscles but they will bounce back and overcome adversity.

Discipline: They will understand and very quickly learn that unruly behavior (ex: fooling around, foul language, fighting, talking back and being disrespectful) will not be tolerated.

Responsibility: We will teach them that they are responsible for their own actions, on and off the football field.  They are responsible to get to practice on time, homework done and equipment on at each practice and game.

Good Sportsmanship: Treat their teammates and opponents with the utmost respect, the same way they would want to be treated.

Proper Football Technique: Blocking, tackling and individual positions.

Teamwork: Doing what it takes to help the team.  Realizing the position they play doesn’t matter, as long as they are in a position that benefits the team.

FOOTBALL NOTES:

Players must wear long pants and 3/4 length sleeve shirts to practice.  Player’s last name should be printed on the front and back of the shirt.  It is helpful to choose a shirt that is large enough (2-3 sizes bigger) to fit over a set of shoulder pads.  Flag football players need not to do this.  Players are responsible for their own mouth guards, athletic supporter, protective cup, and proper footwear.  Mouth guards can be purchased at the clubhouse.

A player must have 5 consecutive practices in order to wear Eastwood Bears equipment
